Starting in 2001, I first became fascinated by the financial markets after a college trip to the NYSE. After watching the traders yelling out numbers on the floor it had my adrenaline pumping from the start. After college I was off to the big apple and joined a proprietary trading desk where I learned the ropes. I watched as housing prices rose exponentially. I couldn't reconcile these price movements with reality. Finding this to be fascinating I set out learning everything I could about economics and finance, specifically about market movement and fluctuations. My goal was to find the yet-undiscovered-by the masses (correct) theory, as well as the theories that the government and the FED would base their current and future policy decisions on ("the playbook").
It's amazing how much the markets have changed over the years from having market makers on the floor to adjusting in the hybrid/electronic markets. My trading style has changed dramatically adapting to what I feel is best in these changing markets. Currently a momentum based trader sticking to the basics while applying some quantitative long-term positions throughout the month.
